The Big Split: The Cost of Leaving the Living
We've severed ourselves from the living world that made us, nature.
Not metaphorically but mechanically, biochemically, generationally. We pulled our species out of the biosphere the way you'd pull a transistor off a board, and we have spent the last two centuries acting surprised that the signals meant to support our lives degraded.
That is the Big Split. Humanity on one side, four billion years of refined, tested, ruthlessly edited intelligence on the other.

The bond that won't break.
This may be a story about PFAS. But PFAS is only an example. The real subject is the almost invisible decision that sits quietly, full of consequences, underneath every product ever made: what did you make it out of? That choice is a bet on the future, whether or not anyone treats it as one. And for most of the industrial era, we have been placing those bets while refusing to understand and recognize the odds.

Four billion years of answers. Two hundred years of the wrong questions.
Why I believe the next decade of industrial competitiveness will be decided by learning from 4 billion years of R&D, not rhetoric.
