Marc Swackhamer’s practice, HouMinn, with partner Blair Satterfield, challenges broadly accepted design approaches through focus on interdisciplinary partnerships, unconventional making, material misuse, and the role of decay in architecture. At the University of Colorado Denver, Marc launched a post-disciplinary research laboratory called LoDo Lab, which was awarded a CU Denver Grand Challenge Grant for Biodegradable Landscape Infrastructure Pods (BLIP), a collaboration with Professors Assia Crawford from Architecture, Sara Branco from Integrative Biology, and Blair Satterfield. He is Dean of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at the Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, California. He studied at the University of Cincinnati and Rice University.
